The Temperature At Forty Degrees

The temperature at 40 degrees
And great warmth in the breath of the breeze
The birds and the animals retreat
To the shade of the trees for relief from the heat

On such weather most people indoors like to stay
The park is deserted today
Lucky that days such as today are quite rare
Since such high temperatures can be hard to bear

Yet the magpie who sings all the year
His warbling melodious and clear
And the pee wee of the magpie lark
Does echo in the nearby park

A rise in the temperature of 20 degrees in two days the weather acting strange
We are in the age of Climate change
The paddocks looking bare and brown
And the temperatures soar and drop down

The warmest day thus far of the New Year
And the prime of the Summer quite near
A high of a humid forty degrees
And great warmth in the breath of the breeze
