The Rose Of Newstead

Her shoulder length wavy hair as dark as the wing of a crow
The girl from the place where the dark Loddon flow
With a babble that is never silent by night or by day
Towards it's destiny the ocean in miles far away
With a beautiful smile and eyes of hazel brown
The beautiful Rose of old Newstead Town
Young and without ties she does seem carefree
Near the prime of her life she has turned twenty three
The finest in Newstead and for miles about
I say what is true of her my words do not doubt
And yet despite her beauty one free of conceit
As nice a person as one could wish to meet
The type that inspires the song writers to song
To the down to earth happy sort she does belong.
