A Sight Of Great Beauty

A sight of great beauty for one to behold
The wattle trees laden in their blooms of gold
When in full bloom in August in late Winter of the year
One knows to Victoria that Spring it is near
The blackbird is singing in the wind and the rain
So nice to hear his beautiful song again
And the magpie sits on her eggs on her stick nest on a tall tree
Whilst her mate sings his flute like song for to proclaim territory
August in south west Victoria the sun behind gray clouds hidden away
Quite windy and showery a typical Winter's day
But it is said it is a sign of an early Spring
When in Winter the golden bill blackbird does sing
The calendar Spring only three weeks away
And the birds they are singing in Koroit today.
