The Mother Weeps

The mother weeps at the grave of her son
Human lives must be lost for a war to be won
He was brought home dead from a war far away
Some to be heroes with their lives do pay
At his burial a young army bugler The Last Post did play
And he will be remembered on War Memorial Day
Even victory in war does come at a huge cost
For a war to be won many young lives are lost
For the mothers of the war dead the grief last for years
In war there is only death, bloodshed and tears
In war sad to say many dead heroes are made
And they are remembered in every war parade
The mother she grieves at the grave of her son
So many young lives are lost for a war to be won.
