The Avoca River

The Avoca River is not flowing today
By the Town of Avoca to the sea far away
On the grass banks between the water holes sapling trees grow
It has become a river with a broken flow
In this twenty first century of Climate Change
To see a river not flowing is no longer strange
So many waterways in the dry country now dry
And for this a drier climate is the reason why
Without water flowing in any creek or drain
The dry countryside it is crying out for rain
Why the Avoca has a broken flow one does not need to explain
Though the title of river with it does remain
By the Town of Avoca the river not flowing
And on the grass banks that divide the waterholes sapling trees are growing.
