You May Leave Your Hometown

You may leave your hometown on your journey to elsewhere
For to start a new life in the big World out there
You may think you are leaving your past behind but you have got it wrong
For wherever you go to your past with you goes along

Though long absent from your hometown and from there you live far away
Old memories of what was are with you today
On your flights of fancy you walk on your first home street
And your friends of the past you are happy to meet

Your physical best years in the forever gone
And the clock on your life ever keeps ticking on
In the park playground you watch your grandchildren play
You too had your young fun in a park far awy

Since in your early twenties you left your hometown
The roadways of life you have been up and down
Good memories of what was in you does remain
And in your nostalgic moments you go home again.
