Magpie Larks Or Pee Wees

A voice quite familiar to many and me
The voice of the magpie lark or the pee wee
Black and white mud nesting birds i do see every day
From where humans are they are never far away
Once seen and once heard birds you never again can get wrong
They call out pee wee in their familiar song
A cup shaped mud nest lined with grass mostly on branch of a tree
The female lay pink speckled pale eggs at most only three
When the male and female sing as a duet they are quite pleasant to hear
And you hear them quite often every day of the year
Of Australian birds among the better known
The endearing magpie larks have a charm of their own
They are birds every day one does hear and does see
And due to their song many refer to them as pee wee.
