In Green Ballydaly

In thousands of kilometers far north of this southern shore
In the countryside between Millstreet and Rathmore
The nesting songbirds of Nature are singing today
As the rain drizzles down from the low clouds of gray
And the cattle out of wintering sheds from months of eating silage and hay
On the nutritious young grass of April gaining weight by the day
And the fields look resplendent in their April flowers
That have bloomed to life in the sunshine and showers
Ballydaly a beautiful place in the Spring
When the wild birds of Nature does whistle and sing
And the swallows back home from Lands far away
Chirp as they fly in pursuit of flying insect prey
And the voice of the cuckoo so pleasant to hear
In green Ballydaly in the Spring of the year.
