The legend it is living of her today
The girl who was drowned on Saltwater Bay
Going back in time some two decades ago
That her disappearance remains as a mystery happens to be so
A dark haired young beauty she was only eighteen
Disappeared whilst swimming never more to be seen
Not destined to give birth to children or to become anyone's wife
There are no guarantees on the length of any human life
Frogmen searched for her remains for kilometres of ocean around
But never a trace of her was to be found
The mystery of her disappearance remains as unknown
And as many mysteries do into legend has grown
It is said that a merman did steal her away
Into deeper waters from Saltwater Bay
And that she is the mother of merchildren today
I only quote here what i hear others say
Some deep sea fishers have sworn in the dim moonlight
They have heard merpeople singing in the still of the night
In deep saltwater far from the ocean shore
Though some say this is their imagination and little else more
And among the voices of the mermen they swear they did hear
The sweet singing voice of a merwoman melodious and clear
The beautiful young woman who disappeared on Saltwater Bay
Her story does live as a legend today.
