From other corvids distinctive in appearance and their softer caw
The birds known to many as grey headed jackdaw
In April when the wildflowers nod in the soft Spring breeze
They build their nest of sticks on chimney tops and trees
Of humankind they are not known to be shy
Birds i do remember from Seasons gone by
Where i once used to live a familiar type of crow
They are birds that everyone does seem to know
Them i used to see and to hear every day
When i used to live in a place far away
A soft cackling caw is their only song
Though once seen and once heard one should not get them wrong
In my flights of fancy them i hear and i see
Birds that once were very familiar to me.
