You may be the one many do celebrate
But there's always one better though you may be great
The number one as number one does not stay
To the winner the glory as some like to say
The champion eventually bound to be beat
But only the great are graceful in defeat
Since for one to win someone else has to lose
'Tis not really true that you can be what you choose,
The winner the prize and the glory does take
And for the loser there's disappointment and heartache
For the winner the glory the praise and esteem
And winners are all that matter or so it does seem
But what I've said before I will say again
You may be number one but there you won't remain.
