A February Evening

In the cool of a late February evening in the park of the town
The magpies are singing just after sundown
And the starlings to their roosting trees quickly do fly
As the shades of night do darken the evening sky
The Summer is ending as Autumn draws near
On what can be quite a pleasant time of year
Soon the leaves on the deciduous trees will be turning brown
Autumn a lovely time of year in the park of the town
I hope to be living to welcome the Spring
To hear in September the male blackbird sing
When the weather is pleasant around twenty degrees
And the nesting birds sing on the bushes and trees
As the fading twilight to darkness gives way
At the end of what has been a nice Summer's day.
