The Desire To Be Loved

The desire to be loved seems a natural thing
But leave it to others your praises to sing
Though self promotion it does seem is the in thing of today
Of how great you are leave it to others to say
Self love can be a good thing but when out of control
It can be unhealthy for the human soul
Narcissism in humanity ought not to belong
As it is a form of self love gone wrong
To meet those into self promotion i need not travel far
In fact i can get to there easily without a car
Just a few minutes walk down to the local bar
To hear people tell me of how marvelous they are
Yet to live as a good person a healthy form of love of self you do need
And if you have such you are lucky indeed.
