The football club's best and fairest when he was in his prime
But eventually we all become victims of time
The legs that did run fast are now walking slow
The seasons of life on him are beginning to show
Not a mere shadow of the man that he once used to be
Gray haired in his early seventies with a poor memory
Forty five years ago he was best on ground on grand final day
Time becomes everyone's master as some like to say
Not one sign of gray in his hair of dark brown
Today's young footballing star of the town
By the football club fans is lauded as a great
Their hero of the present they do celebrate
But the passing of time will leave him old and gray
One more forgotten hero of a long bygone day.
