A little bit of love of self is a good and natural thing
But you ought to leave it to others your praises to sing
In this the twenty first century narcissism is rife
Some do see themselves as far greater than life

The look at me syndrome has spread Worldwide
And down to earth humility by it pushed aside
An endangered species the humble of today
And to say the least this does seem a sad thing to say

Self praise is no praise as a truism remain
Leave it to others to give you the credit you are due
And to the gift of humility try to remain true

In this the age of the selfie it is seen as okay
For people with their smart phones to take photographs of themselves every day
Infatuation with self is not healthy for the mind
But such are the ways of the narcissistic inclined

One needs some love of self this is how it does seem
As it can be good for your sense of self esteem
But leave it to others to say nice things of you
And to the gift of humility try to remain true.
