In his late teens he was the town's greatest athlete
Touted as a future Olympian and so quick on his feet
Far from an old fellow he is only forty three
He is not the man now that he used to be
In athletics he was one who was tipped to go far
But on his twentieth year one evening when crossing the street he was hit by a car
By a hit and run driver who had been driving too fast
All he has now are his memories of his happier days in the past
His terrible injuries has left him in a wheelchair
But you never hear him say life to him is unfair
With luck he would have competed for Olympic Gold
But it is only with memories of what might have been for him that he will grow old
The woman that he was to marry with him did not stay
he lives with his mother and father today
By a dangerous driver his life's dreams destroyed
He is one who did not have luck on his side
In the park on his wheelchair him i often does see
He always smiles and waves a good day to me
At home with his parents without a partner or wife
A hit and run driver ruined his dreams in life.
