The Unenlightened

He said to me your rhymes in numbers do grow
But financially for your time you have nothing to show
For your writing efforts in the ways of financial gain
Your low social standing it's own self does explain

He said i am one of the wealthiest men in the town
And mine is far more than a local renown
In my factory managed by my middle aged son thirty people employed
Of my life achievements am i not entitled to feel pride

When i reminded him since his factory manufactured plastic bags he is not Mother Earth's friend
He smiled as he said i would not even pretend
To respect any environmentalist as you seem to be
Suppose like all of your greenie mates you often hug a tree

He may be many times a multi millionaire
But with him i have nothing in common to share
By one i know i was introduced to him in a casual sort of a way
As they were out walking in the park one day

My casual acquaintance told him i was a man of rhyme
Which to him of course was a big waste of time
His sort are known to lack in common sense
And with their words often cause verbal offense.
