I would be a stranger to many today
Some i went to school with are where the deceased does lay
And some like me in Duhallow did not stay
But the memories remain to me as a source of joy
Of where i grew to love Nature as a young boy
The old rushy fields near the Town of Millstreet
In the green countryside where the waterways meet
That inspired me to rhyme many decades ago
Long before time it did become my foe
And only the memories with me does remain
Of beauty i may never look on again
Where old Clara Mountain as ever looks down
On green Claraghatlea west of Millstreet Town.
