A False Impression

A false impression on the voters they make
And many of their promises post election they break
Few of them as their true selves you ever does see
Most politicians are not what they make themselves out to be
If the truth does not suit them the truth they will deny
Most politicians to a question with another question reply
For the sake of power they do readily lie
And leave politics on huge pensions financially secure until they die
For their privileged job they do draw a huge pay
Yet most of them are not honourable in any sort of a way
On saying the honest politicians are of the few
Is not saying anything in any way that is new
Some politicians to their higher selves remain true
And great credit to them for this is most certainly due.

Some Men Out Of Love

Some men out of love get what they ask for in life
Ask this of Jim roe he will tell you Kate his ex wife
Was all he desired going back thirty years or so
But now he says he will never again repeat his mistakes of long ago
In the old age truism he now does believe
That some only flatter for to deceive
Before they were married they used to walk hand in hand on the street
And now they pass as strangers whenever they meet

She is not ageing in a graceful way

With her did not wish to spend the best years of his life

Playing the true part of the local toy boy

She was hoping John would be her husband number five
But another broken relationship she will survive
Her love disappointments have been quite a few

Time that ages everyone is not on your side
And all that you have left in your life is pride
And pride as is said does come before a fall
And old age eventually comes to us all

Your biological clock on you ticking fast
And all you can do is talk of your past
And of your sporting achievements in your physical prime
Though this is going back many Seasons in time

You also like to talk of your teenage great grandson
And of recent big foot races that he has won
His victories makes you feel so very proud
In the local pub you sing his praises loud

With a few drinks in you talk of your wife
She used to be the great love of your life
Now you do quarrel with her every day
No love left between you though with her you do stay

To be an ex champion your claim to renown
You are no longer the pride of the town
Your past achievements are now out of date
Nowadays they have others for to celebrate

Time on your life ever keeps ticking on
In your mid eighties your best years long gone
The now is what matters as the wise one does say
And the winners that count are the winners today.

The praises of celebrities many well may sing
In the twenty first century it has become an in thing
But the people many look up to in some of their ways rather small
And as human beings are not that good at all
Why waste your admiration on the egotistical celebrity multi millionaire
Who for the welfare of self only does seem to care
Whose three favourite words are me, myself and i
That praise can swell the ego is not a lie
Save your admiration for the compassionate and kind
Who in the helping of others are always willingly inclined
And care for the poor and financially down and out
These are people in a positive way well worth talking about
Save your admiration for their sort instead
Of the wealthy celebrity multi millionaire with the swollen head.

In Thing

People with the biggest egos i do meet with every day
If they did not have themselves to talk of they would have nothing to say
Since they can only talk of their own successes conversing with them i do not delay
A competition for attention with some at least it is this way
Like to talk of their recent successes of their job promotion and raise in pay
It seems this crave for recognition is with humanity to stay
They only nurture their own egos narcissism is love of self gone wrong
Humility is near extinction and to a long gone age belong
They like to talk of their marvelous families of their brand new home and expensive car
I listen to but never tell them of how marvelous i think they are
Since this would only be deceptive of me i listen to them waffle on
The down to earth becoming rarer more of their sort in times long gone
In the early twenty first century self promotion an in thing
It is not seen as being boastful when your own praises you sing.
