As did the great hurler the famed Christy Ring
On the field of play he always done his thing
And great honour to himself and to hurling, Glen Rovers and Cork he did bring
But the master hurler on the field of play
Of his greatness in public never had anything to say
That actions speak louder than words as a truism remain

Self praise in life never gets one too far
You should leave it to others to say of how great you are
We are in the age of self promotion in the twenty first century
And they are a rare breed now those with humility
Not many nowadays like the late and great hurler Christy Ring
