A Warm Day In January

 The day it is warm thirty five degrees

And warmth in the sunshine and warmth in the breeze

That gently stirs the leaves on the sunlit trees

And the warm air full of the buzzing of bush flies and bees

This sort of weather suits some people fine

They like to be ouitdoors in the warm sunshine

And go to the beach and lay in the sun

Though a lobster red sunburn cannot be much fun

Out of the warm sun on a warm January day

In the shade of the trees cattle chewing their cuds lay

Some humans could learn from how cattle behave

Laying on a beach for hours in Summer may invite an early grave

A warm day in January for this far south

And white butterflies in the gardens are flitting about.

Since I Left Claraghatlea

 Since i left Claraghatlea near Millstreet Town it has been thirty four years

And for the what used to be i have shed my last tears

But the mental images i do retain 

Of the what used to be and will not be again

It has been many years since i climbed Clara's hill

Or heard the babble of the Claramore rill

Flowing on to the bigger rivers with a will

Every night and day it's tongue never still

On old streets i often did walk up and down

Today i would be a stranger to many in Millstreet Town

So many young locals of me would say

Who is this old stranger from far away

Since i left Claraghatlea where my life's journey began

Time it has left me an old balding grey haired man

My better days to the forever have gone

But only the love of life keeps me living on.

The War Supposed To End All Wars

 The war supposed to end all wars ended more than a century ago

And many of the enemies back then are no longer the foe 

And many of the foes back then are the friends of today

Humanity it does seem does work in this way

The war supposed to end all wars has been and long gone

But the lust for killing in some does live on

More people are dying in war zones every day

Moses fifth commandment some willingly disobey

Moses fifth commandment states thou shalt not kill

But some people believe to murder those different is their god's will

And those who die in war by many believed to do die in a noble way

Respect to their war dead the patriots do pay

So many soldiers who died brave and young

Their praises by the heroes of the future are sung

Men die for flag and Country and men die for their god

But men never die for the poor and downtrod.

We All Need A Dream

 Though not everyone in their lifetime see their dreams come true

We all need a dream in life to pursue

Your dreams give you hope in life to carry on

And gives you solace that the worst days from your life have gone

A poor person on the poor side of the town

But your dreams give you comfort when you are financially down

Something to live for when life gets quite tough

When you are hungry and homeless and at night sleeping rough

Their dreams help people in tough times to suvive

Many without a dream today are not alive

Those financially down without a dream are of the living dead

As they see no hope for themselves in the days ahead

Though they are doing it tough on their side of the town

Their dreams give them comfort the financially down.

Due To Our Human Greed

 Mother Earth who is suffering due to human greed

Of more friends is one who is surely in need

For to steal her resources huge holes dug in the ground

And few of Nature's creatures where human greed does abound

In the World people are dying of  malnutrition every day

And this is a sad thing for to have to say

The fact is it is a World for the wealthy and fact never lie

In food shortages it is always the poor who die

Many natural habitats for wildlife for development destroyed

One reason that Nature's creatures are becoming rarer Worldwide

The World is for us humans to live in and with other creatures to share

This is only saying something that most of should be aware

And we abuse Mother Earth the one who feeds all

Life forms including us humans from the great to the small.

I Just Want To Be

I just want to be as good as i can be

And for others feel compassion and empathy

And  live out the remainder of my time span

As a kinder and a far better man

The clock on my life ever ticking away

And it cannot be that long until my last living day 

If a moment of happiness to anyone's life i can bring

Then that to me would be a satisfying thing

There is room for improvement in me and in all

And any self improvement is never too small

I too for the betterment of humanity can plant the seed

By helping if i can anyone of help in need

I just wish to live out my remaining time span

As a far kinder and better living man.

Just Another Bad Day

 For you it has been just another bad day

Of late few good things seem to be going your way

Nothing in your life for to smile about

Of a happier future for you in your mind there is some doubt

You are not the only person today in the town

Who is  having a bad time and feeling down

Like you financially down and doing it tough

The journey in life it can often be rough

Things have not been easy for you for awhile

And of late you do not have any reason to smile

And though life for you may be a tough uphill fight

Better days for you may be in sight

Yes the future to you better times may bring

As life it can be an unpredictable thing.
