If Ever I Return To Duhallow Again

If ever i return to Duhallow again
I will walk in the fields in the drizzling rain
When the wild birds are singing in the prime of the May
The memories of what was are with me today
The fields of Duhallow lush and green after recent showers
Are looking resplendent in their Nature's flowers
And the cattle out of sheds from months of eating silage and hay
On nutritious young grass gaining weight by the day
Where i grew to love Nature when i was a boy
And learning of her ways today i enjoy
The yearn for adventure did lure me away
From where i first looked on the bright lamp of day
But if ever i return to Duhallow again
I will walk in the fields in the drizzling rain.
