On what others never look at twice great beauty he does see
Since he is quite different as the word can be
To most other members of the local community
And those different can seem quite interesting would you not agree
as a gregarious type he will never be known
He is one who seems happy to be on his own
He knows more about Nature than anyone for kilometres around
And his knowledge on flora and fauna one can say profound
On Nature such beautiful poetry he does write
His poems lovers of Nature poetry love to read and recite
In his every walk of Nature he learns something new
His is a rare breed of his sort just a few
To his love of writing his spare time he devote
Quiet in his ways and unassuming the local nature poet.
Though in fancy the past you do visit again
Memories of what was are all that we have to retain
But the now is all that does matter as the wise one does say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today
The fact of the matter and fact never lie
Is us humans are born as mortals and mortals do die
As we age we remember the past of our better days gone
Whilst life all around us as usual goes on
But memories of our good times can be quite a comforting thing
And joy to the mind it always does bring
Our unhappy times we do live to regret
But just like our good times them we do not forget
We can only live in the now as the wise one does say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today.
Above the high wood at South Belgrave the dawn is breaking gray
Where the little green bellbirds do greet the new day
Like tiny bells ringing so pleasant to hear
They can be heard in Birdsland every day of the year
On their territory they do not tolerate birds of prey
Together they mob them and chase them away
In their flimsy bark and grass cup shaped nests bound with cobwebs the female birds lay
One to three pale pink spotted eggs low on tree from sight not hidden away
Bellbirds are not known to travel far and wide
In the wood they were raised in they mostly reside
They search for insects on the trees every day
And once heard their tinkling songs in your memory does stay
Though Birdsland to where i live is not anywhere near
The tinkling songs of the bellbirds i fancy I hear.
Young migrants from Ireland have never been rare
Many of them travelled on the ferries from Dunlaoghaire and Rosslare
To Holyhead and Fishguard on their journey to elsewhere
In their search of adventure in the big World out there
Some left because of their yearn for travel others for financial need
Many of the Irish since famine times have become a yearn for wander breed
Some of them return to grow old to the homeland shore
And some of them leave Ireland forever more
Ageing Jimmy from Mayo has not been to Ireland for years
And though for his Homeland he has shed his last nostalgic tears
He says he hopes he lives to realize his sporting dream
Of a senior Gaelic Football All Ireland for the Mayo team
He was a young migrant from Ireland many years ago
And time that ages everyone has become his foe.
Everyday for success in life people with each other compete
And contented people i do not often meet
In a World where so many strive for financial and material success
Failure to succeed can lead to unhappiness
But ask the unhappy multi millionaire and she or he to you might say
That they would give millions of their money to live happy for a day
Though they have what others for years have desired
And by many for their material success are greatly admired
On saying the content of mind wealthy are in the few
Is not saying on any way anything that is new
Yet many so many driven by this need
For to be happy in life they must financially succeed
In a World where the content of mind are becoming harder to mee
People for success every day with each other compete.
Though their names will never appear on a memorial wall
Every good living human being is special and if not so none at all
Those who promote some people as special and great
Worldwide so many big egos inflate
Every good person deserve to be recognized for their goodness this is what I believe
But only the chosen few the title of special are known to receive
Admiration of the privileged few helps to create human inequality
Though many with this I know would not agree
Worldwide in every village and city and town
Many good people are not even afforded the honour of local renown
Though they do perform good deeds every day
And to help people often go out of their way
Every good person for their compassion and kindness should be held in high esteem
But sadly this is not the case it does seem.
People are as you find them as the wise one does say
And yesterday's stranger may be your friend today
Far out in the country your car has broken down
A passing stranger came to your assistance and drove you into town
And yesterday's stranger to you is your today's best friend
When you were in trouble one you did not know assistance did lend
Others passed by without stopping as you stood by your broken down car
As is said when you are in trouble you know who your friends are
It is true that life does work in the strangest way
Yesterday's stranger is your best friend today
Your mobile phone out of charge and your car broken down
A passing kindly stranger stopped to assist you and drove you into town
A generous stranger who for payment in money did not wish to be paid
In your time of need had come to your aid.
