Old Andy

Of late old Andy has not been feeling well
But of his life he has great stories to tell
Of his better years travelling from place to place
Where in many a town his was a well known face

An itinerant worker his sort nowadays rare
As a younger man he was one free of care
But lady luck was not always on his side
The woman he loved June in childbirth she died

Their child was still born his grief stayed with him for years
Andy knows that life has it's laughter and tears
But Andy did survive his tragic mental fall
And time is the greatest healer of them all

In his late seventies he lives on his own
And better physical years old Andy has known
He thinks of the up and down times he has had
And he is one who takes the good times with the bad

You May Think

You may think you are the best at what you do
That there is nobody quite as great as you
But someone behind you up the ranks does rise
And that you are not the greatest you will come to realize

Yes always one better though great you may be
Since greatness can be relative as most would agree
For to find one better you may have to travel far
But out there is someone better than you are

The admiration by others in the admired one a big ego does create
Suppose it is hard to remain humble when you are told you are great
When those who admire you your praises does sing
An over pumped ego for the mind is not a healthy thing

You may think you are the best at what you are good at
And for your achievements give yourself a pat
But that there is one better you may come to realize
As some do grow older they also grow wise.

Good People Believe

All races of different skin pigmentation who live in this town
Take them as you find them the black, white and brown
Your race or your nationality as a person you does not define
It does not make you better than others your d n a line

It is not your material possessions or  the size of your new home or car
That says anything of the person you are
Since materialism is known to have it's source in greed
Of more of the self centered wealthy humanity is not in need

It is not your religion or culture or skin pigmentation or race
It is the sort of principles in life you embrace
If the principle of live and let live you are  one who lives by
That living true to your higher self at least your does try

To people who believe on a fair go for everyone credit is due
To something quite beautiful they are being true
Of non judgmental people the Human World is in need of more
But when it comes to role models sadly they are not to the fore

It is more of the kind and compassionate that humanity of is in need
Since for a better World to live in they plant the good seed
Any kindness towards another is never too small
Good people believe on a fair go for all.

We Make Heroes

We make heroes of people who drive fast in cars
And of elite sports people and entertainers and famed movie stars
And people famed for their material possesions and money we do celebrate
On so doing big egos in them we create

Yet the woman or man who is kind to the poor aged person next door
We never look up to and even tend to ignore
The kind and compassionate are the anonymous in the Human World of today
And this seems a rather sad thing for to say

We become a reflection of those we look up to and admire
And our need to be like them in us becomes a desire
It is the admiring majority in Countries Worldwide
Who help for to uphold the social divide

Yet if  you help people who in life are doing it financially tough
Then as a person you are living one can say quite good enough
Every day for your future good Karma you plant the good seed
By helping those of your helping in need.

As Australia's First People

Their ancestral myths and legends forever will grow
Yet so little of their history we can claim of to know
Their ancestors had lived in Australia for thousands of years
Until the arrival of the people from the Northlands brought them sorrow and tears

Though others from their ancestral lands reap the financial gain
The honour of Australia's first people with them does remain
And this honour with them forver will stay
One thing that from them cannot be taken away

In modern Australia a first Australian person yet to become a head of State
The descendants of migrants we do celebrate
For a first Australian the honour of Prime Minister or Governor General may never be
Which does not seem at all fair would you not agree?

Their ancestral links to Australia's first people they can trace
And in the southern Land they should command pride of place
But sadly for them this is not the case
Though they will always remain as Australia's first race.

Seems So Unfair

It is true we all breathe in the polluted air
But life for so many people seems so unfair
So many of the less fortunate are doing it quite tough
And no shortage of the homeless and hungry and those sleeping rough

Even in known prosperous Nations some in dire poverty
Among the living there is no such a thing as equality
In dark laneways in old disused factories out of public sight
Many of the Town's homeless are sleeping rough tonight

Life's choices are not for everyone despite what many may say
For the children of very poor parents life is a battle from their very first day
No billionaire living on poverty street
And no lavish parties where poor people meet

The pinnacle of success does seem far from the financially down
They do not have friends and admirers the poor of the town
Of who to or of where you were born you did not have a choice
The poor they are those without a public voice

But the one who makes all people equal one day
Life's Reaper on all lives has the final say
Inequality does not exist where dead people lay
Though for the Reaper of lives you won't hear a hooray.

Mrs Lillian McDee

In her mid forties and seemingly carefree
Proud as a mother and a wife can be
Of her husband John and their offspring Lee
The ever seemingly happy Mrs Lillian McDee

Their son Lee like his dad a carpenter by trade
They work as partners as contract carpenters they are paid
Much like his mother seemingly carefree
Lee in September will turn twenty three

Lillian does not wear any makeup or buy jewellery
Of her one can say she is what you does see
In her wavy brown hair there are some strands of gray
She is a woman who is ageing in the natural way

A down to earth cheerful woman free of conceit and guile
She greets everyone with a beautiful smile
Quite attractive looking one who loves and enjoys life
And is happy in her role of mother and wife

One of those friendly people i happen to meet
On her way to the super market on the main street
She always does smile and say good day to me
The lovely and down to earth Mrs Lillian McDee.
