For most deceased notorious criminals in history a spot
Whilst most of good living people post bodily death are forgot
And many will tell you that crime does not pay
Yet with many criminals it is not this way
The law of the Land is often seen to fail
There are many criminals who have never been in jail
They are in bureaucracies, sales and big business enjoying the trappings of wealth and fame
And in fraud and deception they feel no guilt or shame
Yet these are the people so many admire
And just to be like them do feel the desire
Among the influential and wealthy corruption is rife
Whilst some poor people for petty crimes in jail spend years of their life
That crime does not pay has to be based on a lie
Since many criminals grow wealthy and of old age do die
And many good people now deceased are not remembered today
And many will tell you that crime does not pay?
