Some people refer to them as the weerloos
The parrots known to many as yellow tailed black cockatoos
Big dark brown birds will massive bills, yellow on cheeks and on their dark tail
Once seen and once heard to recognize them you never again will fail
The female lay one white egg in cavity high on old tree
That from the ground is never easy to see
With their massive bills they shred for their seed hard hakea nuts and pine cone
It is said that their bills are strong enough for to crack a stone
Familiar to many by their wee yu cry
That they often call out as they do fly
Perhaps the slowest fliers of the Australian parrot family not seen every day
Yet quite distinctive from all others of them one can say
They live in small flocks unlike most other species of cockatoo
Of twelve or thirteen down to three or two.
