Time To The Boggeraghs

Long before the first people to  the Land now known as Ireland came
And long before Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra were given a name
The ranges now known as the Boggeraghs that affords climbers of views far and wide
Stood as they do today above the green countryside
Today they inspire to write of them the writers of song, story and rhyme
The pre historic mountains that are so old in time
Long before the arrival of the dinosaurs they were very old
And their true history of in writing will never be told
Above the slopes of the Boggeraghs in early to late July
The skylarks do sing in the Summer sky
The tiny blue fruits of the heather the whortleberries are ripe for to eat
In the taste buds of the mouth a delicious treat
And though the Seasons may come and the Seasons may go
Time to the Boggeraghs is never a foe.

Changes Keep Happening

Changes keep happening and time ticks on fast
And despite great human achievements many lessons not yet learned from the past
That many human beings ignore ancestral mistakes happens to be so
And few lessons learned from the war that was supposed to end all wars a century ago
That we have not learned from the horrors and tragedies of war does seem sad to say
War and war heroes are honoured by the patriots of today
Why do we wish upon those we do not know death, injury or ill
When Moses fifth commandment states thou shalt not kill?
In war men are honoured for taking of human life
But there can be no love or peace or harmony where violence is rife
It is out of worship of long dead war heroes young war heroes are made
Old patriots create them in every street war parade
Heroes of the war that was suppoed to end all wars by young people revered to day
And this is a sad thing for to have to say.

Koroit's Koala Woman

Koroit's Koala Woman Tracy Wilson by name
She is one who deserves a far greater fame
For her work with injured and sick wildlife that she performs every day
With the help of kind volunteers and without money for pay
It is mostly sick and injured koalas that she helps to get well
Many injured in fires and by falling trees when loggers are doing their tree fell
For her future good karma she sows the good seed
Of far more people like she is the Human World of is in need
All of her spare time in caring for sick and injured wildlife she does devote
Yet she is not seen as one who is worthy of note
Of wildlife especially sick and injured koalas for she does care
Humanity needs more people like her who of the needs of wild creatures are aware
Koroit's Koala Woman and the volunteers who help her every day
Just for the love of Nature's creatures great people of them one can say.

We Live In The Now

We live in the now and the future ahead
And only memories of what was in us is not dead
And wherever we travel to our past with us go
Until time that ages everyone becomes our foe
Our future is unknown to us as most would agree
And we only have memories of the what used to be
Three score years and ten the average human lifetime span
And a few years more for a woman than it is for a man
A fact of our existence and fact never lie
Is us humans are born as mortals and all mortals do die
At the stroke of nidnight the past will be today
And that we can only live in the now only true for to say
Each day of our existence one nearer to our last
And time on our lives ever keeps ticking fast.

Mental Poverty

A rather wise ageing woman once said to me
There is such a thing as mental poverty
You are poor in your thoughts if you believe you are doing it tough
Though materially and financially to live you have more than enough
There are some wealthy people in every town
Who in their thinking are financially down
They have convinced themselves they are poor and this they are mentally
And of their poverty thinking they will never be free
Suppose humanity is comprised of every kind
Their sort of poverty is poverty of mind
Though they will never be homeless or go without a meal
Their poverty to them is so very real
So much wisdom in what the ageing woman did say
Though financially wealthy those mentally who believe they are poor are poor in their own way.

An Ordinary Man

A man who does love his  children and his wife
And who works hard for his pay and lives a moral life
Of those admired by many he is not a fan
Yet he is looked on as an ordinary man
He is one who wish on others only good
And if he could help you he most certainly would
He minds his own business and does his own thing
Yet his praises few ever bother to sing
In his words he never puts anyone down
Yet he is not a hero on his side of the town
For his future good Karma he sows the good seed
And of more of his sort the Human World is in need
But as one of the unsung he will live out his life span
The likeable down to earth hard working ordinary man.

Some Of Nature's Creatures Of The Night

On a nearby tree in the calm of the night
A boobook owl is calling in the moonlight
The small bird wakes from sleep and flies off in fear
Spooked from her bush when the voice of the night hunter she does hear
A boobook killed two of her offspring last year
And she takes to flight with one of their sort to her near
A male brush tail possum on a gum tree
His hoarse cry a strong clue to his identity
Is calling for to proclaim his territory
His sort too have their borders which they defend vigorously
Out there in the paddocks hunting for prey
The wild cry of a fox one seldom seen or heard by day
The voices of some of Nature's nocturnal creatures of the night
That are very seldom heard in the daylight.
