Some ageing war heroes like to talk of wars they have fought in
Though many young men die for every war win
They wear their war medals on war memorial day
To honor their fallen comrades in lands far away
From their life's experiences many of them insights did not gain
For if asked by the government to go to war they would fight again
Their love of their country and their country's flag
To them is a passion far more than a brag
All men grow older but few do grow wise
Of the truth in this saying i have come to realize
The praises of dead war heroes old patriotic ex soldiers do sing
To die for your country to them is a glorious thing
With pride they carry the flag of their country today
A flag they fought for in a land far away.
