When i am outdoors them i often does see
They are known as mudlark or magpie lark and some know them as pee wee
They build a cup shaped mud nest on fork of branch of tree
Often seen in town parks and paddocks of the countryside
Medium sized black and white birds who live Australia wide
From most other birds distinctive in almost every way
To brood a few brown dotted white eggs the female bird does lay
Often in backyards one does see them walking around
Picking up small insects they find on the ground
Their voices to most people a familiar thing
Sometimes the male and the female as a duet does sing
They are rather plentiful and to many are known
And one can say of them they have ways of their own
They are familiar to many of them one can say
And them i do hear and do see every day.
