An Aussie Christmas Day

The evening is warm of only a slight breeze
On a weather temperature high of over thirty degrees
In the parkland after their barbeque Christmas dinner the families cricket play
On a typical enough indeed evening of Christmas day

A day when the friends and the families does meet
To eat, drink and socialize in the parkland off of the street
And enjoy the comraderie this is the Aussie way
To celebrate and make merry on Christmas Day

And meet up with old friends and talk of the past
Of another year gone and time ticking on fast
Some friends living elsewhere and some with the deceased lay
That a year makes a difference only true to say

The Christmas dinner is washed down with wine and beer
And in the friendly game of cricket there is laughter and cheer
On such warm Summer weather few at home choose to stay
Most Aussies are outdoors enjoying Christmas Day.
