John Carroll of Inchaleigh lived as a good man
His life journey ended in Millstreet Hospital a short walk from where it began
A hard working fellow kind in his own way
He was one who did earn his every pay
Not afraid of hard work of him one could say
He often picked potatoes in St Davids in May
On a beautiful place in the Spring of the year
The bells of St Davids he often did hear
Above the potato fields carrying in the breeze
In often sunny Spring weather of around twenty degrees
Such beautiful memories he had to retain
That in memory he often did visit again
Where to many his was a well loved and known face
St Davids in Coastal southern Wales to John a favourite place
His travels from Millstreet took him to places far and wide
Though he lived his last years in his home countryside
Perhaps in his mid seventies the years on him took toll
Though ageing it is beyond human control
From life's cares and worries death brings a release
In St Mary's in Millstreet he now is at peace.
