Koroit On A January Night

A watchdog in a yard nearby utters an angry bark
In answer to a fox's shrill cry in the starlit town park
On Commercial Road to and from Warrnambool big trucks drive up and down
On a January night in the Moyne Shire in Koroit's country Town
A boobook owl is calling in the stillness of the night
The pubs are closed in Koroit not a human being in sight
On January the eleventh time seems to tick on fast
The new year celebrations now a memory of the past
All night along Commercial Road the trucks pass to and fro
That somethings never seem to change does happen to be so
The Lake School it is over most visitors from Koroit have gone
The old Town is back to normal and life there does go on
Two male cats scream in battle in a territorial fight
And on the streets of Koroit not a human being in sight.
