A warm evening in January close to forty degrees
And warmth in the sunshine and in the freshening breeze
Blowing uphill from the Pacific carrying in it the sweet scent of hay
On what is for south western Victoria a very warm Summer's day
The cattle out of the full sun are happy for to stay
In the shade of the tall gums chewing their cuds they do lay
Not a good evening for the sports minded to go for a cycle, jog or run
A better idea by far to stay out of the warm sun
In Nature in all weather there is beauty for the eyes
Above the sunlit paddocks thousands of white butterflies
Are seeminly dancing or with each other fight or play
This is their mating ritual those who know better say
In the Moyne Shire of coastal south west Victoria a very warm January day
In the very blue and sunny sky there is not one cloud of gray.
