Shrike Thrushes

Grayish brown blackbird sized birds with a beautiful whistling song
Once seen and once heard you never again get them wrong
Near trees and tall bushes they seemingly like to stay
Gray shrike thrushes i see and hear often though not every day
In cup shaped nest of of bark and grass hidden in branch of leafy tree
That from the ground is never easy to see
Two to four eggs with brown spots the female bird lay
Like most nesting wild birds secretive in their way
I have yet to see them in the park of a town
Their beautiful whistling song their main claim to bird renown
Of human kind they do not show great fear
They only take to flight when to them you does come very near
They mostly eat large invertebrates and small vertebrates they find on trees and on the ground
And in large numbers they never seem to abound.
