You never thought then time would become your foe
But in retrospect you have become far more wise
That you are not indestructible you have come to realize
As your youngest grandchild sits on your knee
You tell him of the man that you once used to be
But he in child's honesty looks you in the face
Saying grandpa this morning i beat you in a race
Many Seasons ago your legs did move fast
But you have become a shadow of the man that you were in the past
Time on the best does eventually show
Your fastest pace nowadays to say the least slow
Your five year old grandson looks you in the face
Saying grandpa you cannot beat me in a race.
