A Stranger In Town

A stranger in town none knew him by sight
The quietest person in the local pub last night
A stranger in town a few of him did say
He must just have arrived from a town far away
The one person in the pub to anyone else there not known
He sat by the counter drinking a beer on his own
Perhaps in his sixties of hair silver gray
One who was not in town for a long stay
He sat on his own and his silence he did keep
Perhaps there is some truth in quiet waters are deep
Whilst the others around in groups were talking loud
He may have been the bright one among the noisy crowd
The self centered of self does like to boast
But the one who is silent of knowledge may have most.
