On a September evening in the early Spring
On high branch of a young tree a male blackbird does sing
A familiar songster of the Spring of the year
His distinctive melody pleasant to hear
His partner neaby sits in her cup shaped nest
Warming to life her eggs beneath her breast
In the undulating countryside by the rural town
The sky looking grey just before sundown
It was warm and sunny in the earlier part of the day
But in the drop in weather temperature it looks like rain is on the way
In Spring so much natural beauty in Nature to be seen
After the recent rain the countryside looking green
The sun behind grey clouds is hidden away
Near the end of what has been a pleasant Spring day.
