Eventually everyone does lose out to time
But the rhymers do never run out of rhyme
And though they remain as strangers to literary renown
No shortage of them in any village or city or town
Most literary critics dismiss them as writers of doggerel
And from penning of rhyme few rhymers do financially well
In their rhymes they too have some good stories to tell
Though book publishers nowadays claim rhyme is hard to sell
And though rhymers are not to the literary fore
Of their sort in the World there has never been more
It is for their enjoyment their rhymes they do write
And sometimes in the pub to their friends them they recite
The days of the rhymers may be long gone
But true to their calling they do rhyme on.
