The Native Americans of Tennesee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and North Carolina they were the dispossessed
Many of them on the 'The Trail Of Tears' to Oklahoma in unmarked graves in their final place of rest
In their resistance of deportation from their native lands many of them died
Some of the U S colonial history is not a cause for a sense of pride
The unmarked graves of 'The Trail Of Tears' a Nation's shame does hide
That the U S President at the time Andrew Jackson was a callous man of him cannot be denied
The first American people they once were a proud race
From most of their native lands the colonizers them did displace
What happened to the Native Americans has happened to indigenous people Worldwide
By the well armed and war hardened colonizers they were pushed aside
The winners may write the history but the truth always prevail
And there is always death and suffering where love and compassion fail
A story of a brutal dispossession that has lived for close to two hundred years
Of the Native American people in their tearful 'Trail Of Tears'.
