A Final Spring

The songbird does have a last song for to sing
And for all of us there will be a final Spring
The difference between us and the birds is that we do realize
That for us there will be a last sunset and a last sunrise

Time does not wait it ticks and ticks away
Each day we do live one nearer to our last day
Like the animal and bird the same for you and me
We are air breathing creatures born to mortality

In every human life mortality is a guarantee
This is how it is and it always will be
Death never does ignore those of a great name
And claims the lives of everyone of great wealth and fame

We never hear for us the final farewell
The slow heavy tolling of the funeral bell
The songbird does have it's last song for to sing
And for all of us there will be a final Spring.
