It truly can be said of them that they earn their every wage
The shop assistants, nurses, the teachers and office workers too
How can society thank them for the good job that they do
The building workers and the tradies and workers of rail line and roadway
The people who work hard for their every pay
The workers the backbone Worldwide of every city and town
Who live out their lives as strangers to renown
No monument to them or any memorial wall
Their contribution to their communities scarce remembered at all
As newsmakers women and men who never were or will never be to the fore
Who work hard for their living on the factory floor
Lets hear it for the workers of every gender and every race
Though worthy of they never does seem to take pride of place.
