The famed Australian magpies sing every day of the year
Black and white crow sized songsters they seem to love to sing
Unlike most other songbirds who only sing in Spring
From late Winter to mid Spring they even sing at night
How beautiful to hear them warbling in the moonlight
Quite territorial in their ways they sing to proclaim territory
Australian magpies among each other quite often disagree
At breeding time the magpies with borders to defend
Will even attack humans they treat none as a friend
On mice and worms and on smaller birds they are known for to prey
And to live in small family groups does seem to be their way
The warbling flute like music so beautiful for to hear
Of the black and white Australian magpies who sing every day of the year.
