By The Mountain

They came into life by the mountain and were born in their mothers pain
And they lived and loved and raised their children by the mountain those of them who by the mountain did choose to remain
Some choose to leave their first home by the mountain and grow old in cities far away
But the mountain remains in their memories and they do think of it every day
In their visualizations they climb on the high ground overlooking the green countryside
And admire the beautiful scenery that stretches for kilometres far and wide
Though they have long shed their last tears of nostalgia the good memories of what was in them does stay
Though they may never again see the green valley they think of their past every day
The people who raised their children in the town by the mountain by the mountain grow old and gray
And like their ancestors before them in the local cemeteries their remains will lay
Though many of their siblings are migrants and ageing in lands far away
The wanderlust was never in them and by the mountain they choose for to stay
And those from the town by the mountain from there ageing in cities far
Do talk of the homes of their young years where today some of their families and their friends are.
