Their sort often honoured in story and song
Those men who worked for Cunningham and Kelleher on the pipeline in Buninyong
Back in the late eighties a long time ago
Since then time on them has become their foe
There are far easier ways of earning one's pay
Than laying heavy pipes every working day
But they were fit and strong and work hardened men
And physically quite able for hard work back then
But time on all things as is said has it's way
Some of the Buninyong pipeline workers among the deceased now lay
And those living now are showing time's decay
And clearly have known of a far better day
They worked hard and drunk hard and in the Buninyong Crown Hotel
Many stories and yarns they had of to tell
Many of the young men of the nineteen eighties are grandparents today
Time does not stand still and things as they were does not stay
Since then so many years have come and have gone
But life as ever as usual goes on
And only the memories now does remain
Of what used to be but will not be again.
