January In The South West

A nice sunny January evening of over twenty degrees
The sweet scent of freshly mowed grass is blowing in the breeze
Above the brown paddocks from the Pacific shore
In the long range weather forecast of warm and dry many days more
In the clear blue sky just a few clouds of gray
For the southern Land a typical January day
Flitting above the bushes enjoying the sunlight
Brown butterflies make for a beautiful sight
The warm air full of the buzzing of bush flies and bees
And contented cattle chewing their cuds in the shade of the trees
And with the sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
Welcome swallows chasing flying insects in the sky
On this January evening in the south west in Summer's prime
Such beauty that inspires the makers of story and rhyme.
