An Unlikely Hero

For  theft to the local police he is known
The type any local would not claim as one of our own
For shoplifting he has spent some time in jail
The good character test he is one who does fail
But the villain became the hero of the town
The day the Mancini family home burned down
Flames licked towards the sky it was like a bad dream
Young Claudia Mancini trapped in the house for help did scream
But one truly brave young man among  the onlooking crowd
By flames and by smoke refused to be cowed
He broke down the door to the burning house and to safety dragged Claudia out
The young man with the police record he left none in doubt
That an unlikely hero can be one of low public esteem
And those we judge poorly are not always what they does seem.
