The honour of Australia's first people from them cannot be taken away
But sadly for Australia's first people they are Australia's second class citizens of today
The booing of Adam Goodes the great sportsman a former Australian of the year
Did have racial undertones to it and this seems obviously clear
Many of Australia's first people are living in dire poverty
And few of them hold important positions and most of them for advancement starved of opportunity
To indigenous Australians living in remote areas life opportunities does not apply
That they are treated as second class citizens in their own Country does seem rather hard to deny
One thing that cannot be taken from them is that they are the first people of this southern Land
And why so many of them are so poor is not hard for to understand
They are among the marginalized in their own Country and this seems a sad thing to say
So few of them hold important positions in the Australia of today
Looked on as not equal in their own Country racism in humanity remain
But the honour of Australia's first people is something that they do retain
Their ancestors have lived in Australia for thousands of centuries of years
And the arrival of the colonizers only brought to them poverty and tears.
