True to the memory of his deceased wife Elaine
Though she is dead many years does remain
Old photos of her he does retain
In his late seventies ten times a grandad
He is one who has been through life's good times and bad
Fifteen years ago his Elaine passed away
This remains for him his life's saddest day
Though he speaks English one can say okay
His Spanish accent is with him today
This remains with him from the long gone past
And will be with him until he breathes his last
A likeable person of him one can say
He will be seventy eight next year in May
He likes to tell stories of his younger years in Madrid long ago
Long before time it did become his foe
Of the good and the bad times in life he has known
Manuel he is growing old on his own
When he has lived his last night and day
Far south of Madrid with Elaine he will lay.
