Of Jedder there are many stories to tell
In her thirteenth year and feeling unwell
Her sight rather poor and of her balance losing control
The years on the old dog had taken their toll
A white and black blue heeler border collie cross
She loved me as a friend i was never her boss
She was quite energetic as i can recall
She loved to fetch stick or chase and catch a small ball
But sadly about dogs they age all too quick
She began to slow and at times did look sick
Found it difficult to walk i took her to the vet
Who informed me the news is not good on your pet
He said your dog at most has a few months to live
For pain relief drugs for her to you i could give
But for the old dog it would surely be best
If she is painlessly put to her eternal rest
On what is my saddest memory of Wonthaggi Town
It was agreed there and then for to put Jedder down
As i held her prostrate on the table as the vet to her put the deathneedle in
The sad tears of parting in me welled within
In death she did not utter a whimper to her end she was brave
And i wept as i shovelled the earth on her grave
Nowadays whenever i see a heeler collie cross white and black
Of my old dog Jedder i have a memory flashback.
