Mavis The Octogenarian

She hopes she will live for to see one more Spring
When the wild birds of Nature have their best songs to sing
And the weather often pleasant and sunny close to twenty degrees
And pink blossoms are blooming on the fruit bearing trees

September in south west Victoria a pleasant time of year
The whistles of the gray shrike thrushes so pleasant to hear
And the wattles resplendent in their blooms of gold
A sight of great beauty for the eyes to behold

Mavis the octogenarian many years past her physical prime
Realizes she is on the wrong side of time
Says Spring is the Season that she loves best
To have seen so many of them she feels she has been blessed

Twelve times a great grandmother her husband Don
From the land of the living ten years has been gone
But Mavis ageing in the natural way
Try to make the most of her every living day

Shoulder length wavy hair of silver gray
She does not use anti ageing creams to smooth age wrinkles away
Slim and attractive she looks rather well
Though she says time on her now is beginning to tell
